About the Cattery
Clemmie’s Cattery
Clemmie’s Cattery is an Ohio cattery that was started as a family business when I brought home my first cat. I was on campus and a beautiful orange cat came up to me and wouldn’t leave. I couldn’t leave her so I took her home with me. Her name was Clementine and I fell in love. I started researching how to take care of a cat and came across the Maine-Coons and Siberians. Though she is not one of the breeds we carry, she was my inspiration to start this Ohio cattery. I enlisted the help of my parents and grandparents to start a cat breeding business in the hopes of bringing the same love I have for Clemmie to others.
My parent cats all come from the Ukraine. They even came with their own passports! They are beautiful, healthy cats. Each came with a pedigree going back 4 generations and they are all registered with The International Cat Association (TICA). We are very meticulous with our cats, having them groomed often and making sure that they stay healthy with regular visits to the vet. We currently have a total of 7 parent cats; 2 female Siberians, 1 male Siberian, 2 female Maine-Coons, and 2 male Maine-Coons with one being a Polydactyl (meaning a cat who has extra toes). The Maine-Coon is thought to be the first breed of cat with extra toes. It is said that sailors favored them onboard their ships because the extra toes made them more sturdy on a rocking ship and they were thought to bring good luck. Ernest Hemingway loved Polydactyl’s and owned several. His home in Key West is still home to descendants of his first Polydactyl cat, Snow White.
